It’s fitting that our new ‘Welcome to Washington’ (W2W) buffet made its debut at the US Institute of Peace. The impressive, twenty-five foot display showcases models of the Monuments on the National Mall that are just across the street!

The buffet, designed by Occasions’ owner, Eric Michael, features white lacquer, Federal-style tables custom-built by Brian Butts at Streamline Construction. The architectural models of the Capitol Building, the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial were meticulously sculpted by AJ Strasser, owner of AJ Sculptural Solutions.

To give guests a real taste of Washington, the menu highlights DC favorites like Crab Cakes with a Fennel and Green Apple Slaw; classic Senate Bean Soup; our signature Mini Corn Souffles; Beer-braised Short Rib Grilled Sandwiches; Half-Smoke Slider Dogs with Chili, melted Cheddar Sauce and housemade Pickle Spears; Local Cheeses from Maryland and Virginia; Eastern Market Chopped Salad and Pretzel Rods with creamy Pimento Cheese and Smoked Onion Mustard.

The dessert buffet, celebrates Washington’s Cherry Blossoms and offers tumblers of tart Cherry Cheesecakes set around the Jefferson Monument on a mirrored ‘reflecting pool’. Our Welcome to Washington and Cherry Blossom Buffets create a one-of-a-kind DC experience that highlights the history, heart and hospitality of the District.
