A beautiful day at one of our very favorite sites, Baltimore’s George Peabody Library. Thank you, Anne Sachs at Artful Weddings for posting!
George Peabody Library wedding: Lauren + Martin
Lauren and Martin met in a study group back in their college days. Martin asked for Lauren’s notes as a way to get her phone number. It didn’t take long for them to start dating. Their romance quickly blossomed as these two pursued medicine. Martin, currently in his residency, and Lauren, currently on her way to her MD were engaged at the same restaurant where they enjoyed their first date. After he proposed, the two met their parents at a different restaurant just down the road.
The weekend started with a welcome/rehearsal party at the American Visionary Art Museum. The ceremony and reception were held the next day in downtown Baltimore at the Peabody Library. The library seemed a most fitting location to hold their ceremony, as a library was where their relationship started. Beneath gorgeous florals designed by Wicked Willow, the two said “I do.”
Occasions Caterers prepared a summery menu featuring light hors d’oeuvres and chilled soup sips; a first course of red and yellow tomato ‘tartare’ with a white gazpacho sauce and cucumber gelees; roasted lobster tail with saffron risotto studded with peas and radicchio; and a whimsical dessert called “Flight of the Bumble Bee” – a chocolate cake with caramel-honey ice cream wrapped with a toasted meringue ‘beehive’ and garnished with candy bees. Sugar Bakers provided the couple’s fondant wedding cake decorated with a fall of fresh, dusty pink roses. Guests were sent off with chocolate favors from Baltimore’s own The Velvet Chocolatier. And the entire night was brought to a close with a flurry of pink ribbons.
The couple assembled a terrific team:
