AJAX event space was transformed into a tropical retreat complete with summery cocktails, island-inspired decor and a unique Asian Night Market menu. Guest mixologist, Carlie Steiner (co-owner  of Himitsu, one of Bon Appetit’s Best New Restaurants 2017) created tasty drinks with unconventional cocktail ingredients like nori, activated charcoal and apple cider vinegar.


An eclectic array of passed hors d’oeuvres nicely complimented the quirky cocktails with an interesting mix of flavors, textures and preparations.  The small bites packed big taste — duck larb in Brussels sprouts cups, Peruvian beef with purple potato crisps, cod croquettes with garlic rouille, avocado frito, and a chicken liver mousse ‘cannoli’.

A  leisurely late lunch was served at long, rustic tables with banana leaf place cards, rattan chairs, woven place mats, patterned ceramic china and thatched tropical centerpieces.PSP0015


Tahitian poisson cru – minced sushi tuna with coconut milk, lime and passion fruit – was served over crushed ice as a dainty amuse bouche .


At the interactive Asian Night Market Station, chefs made Vietnamese Bahn Xeo crepes filled with pork belly and shrimp and served on crisp lettuce leaves with mint, basil and cilantro.

Other market small bites like Burmese fried chicken, Teochew barbecue duck, Thai fish cakes and green papaya salad gently muddled in a clay ‘kruk’ provided vibrant, authentic flavors.PSP0065 PSP0076PSP0077
