Storybook Ball
celebrating american visionaries and the arts

Storybook Ball
One of Washington DC’s most iconic events, the Annual Corcoran Ball kicks off the Spring social season each year. The 2014 Corcoran Ball celebrates the arts and was inspired by “American Excellence” and “Spring Gardens”. The decor, linens, florals, treatments and menu all paid homage to those themes and complimented the art on display. Both the North and South atriums were whimsical yet formal with green velvet damask linens, a suspended trellis and faux topiaries as a backdrop. Other spaces were made more intimate, such as the Small Mantle Room with wooden pedestal tables, lace placemats, lace napkins and tall, Dutch-inspired florals. The menu began with a Spring lobster salad with rhubarb, beets and sea beans, followed by a main course of local Virginia beef, with a wild mushroom barlotto and carrot ribbons. For dessert, guests enjoyed a decadent “Study in Chocolate and Almond”.
